See the world through the eyes of a child
We wanted to create an HoloLens app that anybody could understand the true magic of spatial computing, in an easy and fun way.
In a nutshell, Flamingo gives you back the ability to see the world like when you were a child. Start the app, it scans the surroundings and objects around you, analyzes and understands the objects thanks to HoloLens cognitive capability.
Now the magic happens in front of you. A blue post-it becomes a small oasis. A pile of books becomes a mountain cliff. Take a closer look, you will find tiny creatures living in the imaginary land.
On top of making a simple (yet magical) experience, we wanted to define the right feeling of the experience. It defines how we design the overall journey, art direction & style, therefore the overall experience.
Flamingo is an open world that is magical and friendly. We want the user to feel inspirational and adventurous. So the 'mood video' was produced to share the vision with the team.
Playful UI for everyone
We designed it for 'everyone,' so our goal was to make the UI as simple as possible, or ultimately no UI at all.
The most complicated part was the room scanning session. We came up with a playful way to engage the users by asking them to find the stars in the room and connect them.
This method was much more natural to the users after testing. The star element was also used as the ‘main menu button’ in the app.
